At PV Drilling, the safety – health – environment – quality (HSEQ) is always our first priority.
Operating as an oil and gas drilling contractor in a specific technical field, PV Drilling has been focusing on promoting and maintaining the management system of Health – Safety – Environment – Quality (HSEQ MS), which largely contributes to its business results, enhancing competitive advantages as well as building up the brand name “PV Drilling” in both domestic and regional markets.

Since its foundation, PV Drilling’s management has applied the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with international standards in daily operation. In 2003, we successfully built and applied the QMS in accordance with ISO 9001, certified by the DNV, an accredited certification organization on 21st January, 2003. This is to ensure the quality of service provision in compliance with all processes, international standards and up to our clients’ expectation. Based on the success of the first QMS and strong support from PV Drilling’s top management, PV Drilling continued to focus on maintaining and promoting the Environment Management System in accordance with ISO 14001 and the Occupational Health & Safety Management System in accordance with OHSAS 18001. Up to present, PV Drilling’s HSEQ MS has been increasingly reinforced, improved and maintained the effectiveness in accordance with the latest versions of international standards. Currently, the Corporation is successfully applying the integrated HSEQ MS in accordance with 3 standards namely ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 (on replacement of OHSAS 18001 and expected to be certified at the end of 2020).
During almost 20 years of development, PV Drilling has made significant steps towards the main target: Ensuring the safety – security of oil and gas industry, sustainable development and environmental friendliness. Thanks to the application of integrated HSEQ MS, HSEQ activities have been actively implemented in accordance with action plan, complying with all processes as well as documented information, resulting in remarkable achievements. Typically, the recorded LTIFR (Lost Time Incident Frequency Rate) and TRFR (Total Recordable Frequency Rate) of the owned jackup rigs over the past 3 years have been lower than the average rate of Asia – Pacific water region, which are 0.16 and 0.61 respectively, compared to the regional rate of 0.49 and 1.20.
Zero LTI awards of the jackup rigs PV DRILLING I & PV DRILLING II.
The most outstanding achievement is the safe operation without lost-time incident of the owned jackup rigs (Zero LTI) which was certified by the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC) as follows:
The oil slump downturn within the crisis period of 2015 - 2018 also served to highlight PV Drilling’s effort to find job when we had to face work scarcity and harsh competitiveness in both domestic and regional drilling markets, which dramatically led to the sharp fall of service prices and day rates. The drilling industry got worse when some contractors decided to offer service prices even lower than their operating cost just to get the job. In such a situation, PV Drilling has managed to bring jobs for our rig fleet by expanding services to overseas markets in addition to maintaining domestic market share, ensuring rig operation in a safe and efficient manner, ensuring service quality and completing drilling campaign ahead of schedule while operating with limited budget and in fiercer competition. Remarkably, all of above-mention factors have helped PV Drilling successfully cross all challenges and accomplishing annual business plans under the difficult times.
Toolbox talks prior to performing tasks on the rig
Safety performance along with effective marketing and successful tender activities actually play an important role in enhancing PV Drilling’s competitive advantages, bringing more jackup rigs to international waters with the first drilling contract signed in 2016 in Myanmar. Our jackup rig, PV DRILLING I has surpassed more than 30 candidates from 10 global drilling contractors to earn the contract award for the campaign of Total E&P Myanmar. This contract actually helped to affirm our prestige in service provision, thereby gaining our Myanmar client’s trust. After that, PV Drilling continued to earn many other contract awards in the region, especially becoming the second largest drilling contractor in Malaysian market. Recently, PV Drilling has entered into a Contract for Provision of Heavy Tender Assist Semi-Submersible Drilling Unit “PV DRILLING V” in Brunei Darussalam with the duration of six firmed years, plus options of 4 year extension. This truly contributed to our remarkable success in the strategy of services expansion to overseas markets, starting in 2013.
With an effective and efficient HSEQ management system in accordance with international standards, largely contributing to our clients’ success, PV Drilling strongly believes that our safety performance shall continue to be a competitive advantage over other top drilling competitors so that PV Drilling can gain more achievements in the industry as well as accomplishing our annual business plans, continuing to build up our reputation by service quality, affirming the spirit of a Vietnamese oil and gas drilling contractor in international drilling markets, making the Vision “To be an internationally reputable and reliable drilling contractor and drilling-related services provider” to come true.
